New Chairman – Welcome Dr Banda!
We are delighted to introduce Dr. Mavuto K Banda as the new Chairman of Bora Shabaa Refugee Community Organisation.
Dr. Banda is an interdisciplinary human geographer and development specialist with more than 16 years of experience across academia, policy, and international development.
He holds a PhD from the University of Hull, where his research focused on child labour, social justice, and global value chains in sub-Saharan Africa.
Throughout his career, he has worked closely with communities, governments, and international organisations to deliver meaningful change.
His expertise in climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and global inequalities has contributed to programmes that have supported over 14,000 households through renewable energy, environmental restoration, and community development initiatives.
Beyond research and programme leadership, Dr. Banda is passionate about inclusive education, community engagement, and empowering vulnerable groups. He also serves on the Hull Youth Justice Services panel, supporting community-based decision-making and social inclusion.
As Chairman, he brings a strong vision for collaboration, empowerment, and sustainable support for refugee communities. We are excited to welcome his leadership and look forward to the positive impact ahead!
