Here at Bora Shabaa, we take a different approach to learning English. This week, we were in the garden planting vegetables and flowers for our Harvest Festival celebration in the Autumn. Our awesome gardening club was out in full force, preparing the raised beds which were made by Rooted in Hull last year. We chose a variety of foods and some plants. This week we planted tomatoes, beans, strawberries, spinach, lettuce, rockets, as well as wildflowers to attract the pollinators.
The ESOL class loves being out in nature, so last year, we brought nature to Oasis Hub Hull by building a vegetable garden. This year, we are hoping to bring more nature to the space by introducing wildflowers, lavender, and marigolds. We have also joined with Oasis Hub Hull to involve the children who attend their Our Space SENDI after-school club and they will planting sunflowers and more wildflowers to help us to continue to increase the number of bees and butterflies that we attract.
